ABOUT US
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Dave and David Rowland, Father, Son, and Owners of Some Brewing Company LLC, have worked together for years. Dave worked for a design/build landscape firm outside of Philadelphia for 34 years, working his way up from laborer to Chief Operations Officer. After he “retired,” he started his own construction company outside of Lake Placid, NY.David went into education right out of college as a High School History teacher. He also began home brewing after college and became very driven; brewing several times a week and reading and researching his craft with intense determination. Due to budget cuts, David lost his teaching job after 10 years and went to work for his father again. Up in Lake Placid, he and Dave began brewing even more.
The Journey
As time went on, and David was tiring of “reverse commuting” back to Northern New Jersey every weekend to see his wife Jen, it became clear that something needed to change. Jen began to push him to explore opening a brewery and pursue their dream in earnest. David & Jen decided York, Maine was the best choice to open the brewery and soon a space was secured in the Summer of 2013. By doing so, SoMe Brewing Company became York’s first and original brewery!

OUR
STORY
WE SAY SOME.
SoMe began brewing and officially opened its doors on December 14, 2013, after a government shutdown delayed licensing. SoMe started with a small 3 barrel brewhouse with only 4 Fermenters and one Brite Tank. Quickly, more fermenters were added, another Brite, and eventually a Bottling Line. By June 2015, SoMe was in need of expansion again and took over the 1500 square foot space directly next door. A new 7 barrel brewhouse was installed which included three 7 barrel and three 15 barrel fermenters, along with a 1 barrel “Pilot” system for test beers and small batch releases.
From a 6 tap system in our Tasting Room in 2013 to now a 12 tap system, our beer line up continues to grow. Our goal is to maintain a variety of styles; when you walk into our Tasting Room there will be something for everyone! In addition to enjoy flights and “large pours” on draft, SoMe also offers growler fills and 4-packs To-GO. SoMe is also happy to serve other beverages in the Tasting Room, including a variety of wine, hard cider, hard seltzer, non-alcoholic beer, Maine Root Beer, and Polar Seltzer Water.
Our Journey
After securing the old Post Office building at 33 Railroad Avenue in Short Sands and installing a 10 barrel brewhouse, York Beach Beer Company officially opened on March 9, 2019, as the “sister brewery” to SoMe. With a lot more on their plate between two breweries, Dave & David were able to bring on their daughter/sister Sarah as General Manager of both locations. The Beach features it’s own lineup of “session-able” beach style brews in a fun, laid-back environment right off of Short Sands Beach. Just like SoMe, The Beach offers a variety of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. We are happy to be open YEAR ROUND, providing our locals (and tourists alike!) with a place they can rely on for fun times and good drinks.
SoMe & YBBC are proud to be Family Owned & Operated since 2013.
